On November 17, 2015, some of the best undiscovered talent in NYC turned up for the finals of the 4th Annual ‘Karaoke Idol NYC’ competition at the Radio Star karaoke club in midtown Manhattan. Hosted by Vern Vergara a.k.a. VV, the show not only offered a glimpse at some of the hottest talent in NYC, but showed that many of these contestants take their craft very seriously.
Eddie Gamboa sang his version of John Legend’s “All of Me.” He dedicated and sang it to his pregnant wife who stood tearfully mesmerized as she watched from the audience. The lovely transgendered artist Robert Garcia sang a heart wrenching rendition of Toni Braxton’s “Unbreak My Heart.’’ Joey Gilbert came out on the stage as the last contestant, totally unassuming. Comments were that he look like the Verizon guy or the cable guy, but he proceeded to blow the audience away with a song that nobody really knew, but by the end of it everybody loved. And of course, the super-talented winner Jose Figueroa woo’d us with his mellifluous vocal rendition of Bryan Adams’ “Everything I Do (I Do For You).’’
A fantastic job was done by all! Congratulations to all of the ‘Karaoke Idol NYC’ finalists. We hope to see these contestants move forward successfully with their music careers and will be there to support them. JAMBOX Entertainment Studios is a major sponsor of ‘Karaoke Idol NYC’ and always donates one of the main prizes. The judges were Dancer/Singer/Performer Carol Henning, Veteran Vocalist Noel Clarke, and JAMBOX Entertainment CEO, Lee Evans.
